15 healthy ice-cream sundae customized for an artist
Most people think ice-cream sundae is high in calories and unhealthy, so I’d like to challenge the thought by creating new recipes to feel less guilty eating it. I planned to make a look-book with recipes of ice cream that harmonizes with healthy ingredients. Koala, the owner of the residence where I lived in 2016, was physically and mentally weak at the moment, so I carried out my idea on her. I believe sweet and healthy food enriches our lives and it was a perfect opportunity to apply the idea in real: making healthy sweet dishes to boost up my friend. There were fifteen ice cream dishes, and all the recipes were successful to both: the eater and the cook.

Various vegetables from their farm
Working away from hometown in 2016, Koala and I could receive a lot of relief from a number of people. The best thing was from friend's parents: they had grown vegetables and fruit by them selves. One day, they sent basil with stems, eggplants, and pumkin etc. in a paper box. In gratitude for their heartfelt gift, this project centers on the recipes that go well with the food and thanking them.

'Dance, Seriously' is one of my most important long-term project I initiated, which pursues the value of handcraft and the beauty in it since 2017. This project aims for promoting the idea of craft, especially for the people who are indifferent in that issue. It started from my frustration that I had gone through since I studied craft. Unfortunately, some people have different attitudes and thoughts about fine art and craft field.
As far as I am a person who doesn’t understand where that idea came from, I would provoke my opinions on it. If someone has desired to get a piece, whichever it is, the price should be considered as much as the artist would possibly agree, for both a collector and an artisan or artist. It is very clear that we cannot judge the value of hand-working because the crafted work contains the world of the person who made it
프로젝트 '댄스, 시리어슬리.(Dance, Seriously.)'는 이 작업을 만나는 사람들이 손으로 하는 일의 가치와 귀함에 대해 생각해보도록 하는 작업으로 2017년 부터 진행해오고 있는 호흡이 긴 프로젝트다. 나는 손으로 하는 작업을 사랑하는 사람으로 영역이 분명하지 않은 작업들을 많이 해왔다. 그 과정에서 때로는 공예와 순수미술 영역의 차별적 태도를 가진 사람들을 마주했다. 특히, 작업을 보여주는 방식이나 작업에 대한 가치를 돈으로 환산할 때 가장 두드러지는 일이기도 한데, 이런 부분에서 종종 난처함과 어색함을 느끼곤 했다.
이 프로젝트의 결과물을 굳이 묘사 하자면 때로는 디자인 적이고 공예 적이며 역시 회화적일 수 있다. 작업에 대한 인상이 그렇게 받아 들여지길 바란다. 기본적으로 재료는 가볍고 구하기 쉬운 소재들로 펠트, 광목, 스팽글, 자투리 가죽, 커튼 레이스 등 을 사용한다. 장신구로 잘 사용하지 않는 재료들을 가능성 있게 다시 보고, 손으로만 할 수 있는 작업이 이뤄내는 가치를 부각 시키려는 의도를 가지고 있다. 하나의 오브제를 여러가지 용도로 사용할 수 있도록 하는 활용도 높은 디자인을 추구한다.
한 분야에 메이지 않고 크기나 쓰임, 나이와 성별에도 제한 없는 개인의 세계를 담아 작업하는 자유로운 시도와 과정을 보여주는 것이 목표이다. 또한, 작가와 구매자가 상호 만족할 수 있는 지점에서 가치를 지불해 책임감 있는 판매와 사후관리가 이뤄지는 방법을 택하고 있다.
